A theme for the birds

Posted on June 4, 2013

For a subtle nature theme, consider birds and feathers. The beauty of choosing this kind of theme is that there’s such an assortment of ways to make it your own. You can incorporate bird (or feather, or egg, or nest) elements into everything from your invitations to your bridesmaids’ gifts. We rounded up some examples: What could be sweeter than these lovebird kissing bells from Cherish the Moment? They double as place card holders with poems—“Today as we gather together, wish us a love to last forever. If you would like us to share a wedded kiss, ring the bell for lifelong bliss”—on the back that encourage guests to give the bells a ring. We love the vintage air about these invitations. And they’re perfect for a DIY bride. Just download the template and customize to your heart’s content. Also … Read more

All eyes (and maybe spotlight) will be on you for your first dance. Do you know what song you want to be playing as you spin across the floor? Finding your song can be a tough choice. Of course you’ll want to talk over musical styles, favorite artists, and songs that have special meaning to the two of you, but sometimes the perfect pick remains elusive. That’s when you should seek out a professional. They know what’s fresh and what’s been overcooked. The team at Dash of Class, selected for a 2013 WeddingWire Bride’s Choice Award, has been spinning tunes for weddings for more than 20 years. They know all the tunes—from oldies to Top 40s. Ab-sole-lutely brilliant

Posted on April 2, 2013

Photos of signed soles on wedding day shoes have been popping up all over Pinterest recently. The trend has Turkish roots—traditionally the brides would ask all her single bridesmaids and female relatives to sign the soles of her shoes. At the end of the night, whoever’s signature was most faded would be the next to marry. Any girl lucky enough to get Mr. Louboutin to leave her a message on one of his signature red soles should feel no guilt whatsoever about asking everyone else to squeeze their autographs on the other. If the single ladies sign in blue, you can combine two traditions. We’re betting the bride borrowed these shoes. That way, her footwear would meet all of the old rhyme’s requirements. … Read more

Though Pantone named emerald the Color of the 2013, brides have been beguiled by a different shade of green: mint.  Grey’s Anatomy’s Dr. April Kepner isn’t the only woman dreaming of a wedding that’s “mint to be!” Chocolate and mint is never the wrong choice. Sweet Avenue Bake Shop adds something extra—chocolate Bavarian cream filling. A menu printed in mint, how refreshing. British brand River Island will ship these sorbet-colored shoes (and any other pair that catches your fancy) straight to your doorstep. Going green has never looked so good. … Read more

Recent company events

The Palace at Somerset Park is a popular choice for many area companies to gather and celebrate milestones or set new goals. We aim to provide the most comfortable setting for an off-site event. Here are some photos we wanted to share. One of the nation’s top network of franchise-owned real estate sales offices gathered more than 700 people to laud the accomplishments of top-selling agents in its area network. Highlights of the event included a festive cocktail hour and motivational speaker Frank Miles – who also is a juggler. Once again, our staff rose to the occasion to help a major company with a key event. A distributor of electrical and industrial products held a meeting at The Palace to set goals and establish best practices for working between different divisions and locations. The two-day program included discussion of … Read more
