Today’s staff spotlight is on Marcus Grajales, our in-house full time AV Manager. His systematic and coordinated personality suits him well as AV Manager here at The Palace. Clients praise his work for effortlessly run high tech conferences & events. Marcus is an invaluable asset to our team, he is always available, and every clients go-to guy!
Here is a little Q and A we did with him so you can meet the man that truly knows what goes on behind the scenes:
What three character traits would your friends use to describe you?
Hard working, Driven and Helpful.
Do you have any hobbies?
Woodworking and Motorcycles.
What was the most stressful situation you have faced as AV Manager?
During a meeting of over 1000 attendees, I was called up on stage to assist the presenter with their laptop as video was not showing on the screen. Being on stage in front of an audience of that size tends to make seconds feel like minutes when things are not going as expected, good thing it only took a few seconds to assist him.
What skills do you need to be a good AV Manager?
You need to be organized, detailed, focused, and a multi-tasker.
How did you end up in your present position?
With close to 20 years of experience in hotel A/V, I’m drawn to problem solving, which is the core of the positon.
How do you work under pressure?
Having been through the worst and best of events, I have learned to anticipate issues before they occur.
Do the hours have an impact on your social life?
Yes, audio visual is big part of my life, “The show must go on”.
What is the funniest thing that has happened to you while working at an event?
Presenters making announcements that I fixed a problem they had caused.
Best part of the job?
To have creative control of the day’s event.
Worst part of the job?
Being hands on with setup, tends to get your hands a bit too dirty.

Pro race car driver, or stunt car driver.

Thanks for another great year of events at The Palace! I truly enjoy working with your entire team.
