First dance moments

Posted on April 26, 2013

All eyes (and maybe spotlight) will be on you for your first dance. Do you know what song you want to be playing as you spin across the floor? Finding your song can be a tough choice. Of course you’ll want to talk over musical styles, favorite artists, and songs that have special meaning to the two of you, but sometimes the perfect pick remains elusive. That’s when you should seek out a professional. They know what’s fresh and what’s been overcooked. The team at Dash of Class, selected for a 2013 WeddingWire Bride’s Choice Award, has been spinning tunes for weddings for more than 20 years. They know all the tunes—from oldies to Top 40s. If you are having difficulties, your DJ can suggest options that may never have crossed your mind. For example, a cover of Elvis’ “Can’t Help Falling … Read more

Famous for their floral arrangements, the beautiful minds at A Touch of Elegance also design custom decor. Ab-sole-lutely brilliant

Photos of signed soles on wedding day shoes have been popping up all over Pinterest recently. The trend has Turkish roots—traditionally the brides would ask all her single bridesmaids and female relatives to sign the soles of her shoes. At the end of the night, whoever’s signature was most faded would be the next to marry. Any girl lucky enough to get Mr. Louboutin to leave her a message on one of his signature red soles should feel no guilt whatsoever about asking everyone else to squeeze their autographs on the other. If the single ladies sign in blue, you can combine two traditions. We’re betting the bride borrowed these shoes. That way, her footwear would meet all of the old rhyme’s requirements. … Read more

Minty Fresh

Though Pantone named emerald the Color of the 2013, brides have been beguiled by a different shade of green: mint.  Grey’s Anatomy’s Dr. April Kepner isn’t the only woman dreaming of a wedding that’s “mint to be!” Chocolate and mint is never the wrong choice. Sweet Avenue Bake Shop adds something extra—chocolate Bavarian cream filling. A menu printed in mint, how refreshing. British brand River Island will ship these sorbet-colored shoes (and any other pair that catches your fancy) straight to your doorstep. Going green has never looked so good. … Read more

Tying the Knot

There’s something about braids for a wedding hairstyle. This is the day you intertwine your life with someone else’s, the day the two of you tie the knot. Natalya Chepura, a freelance hair and make-up artist serving North and Central New Jersey, has constructed some of the most elaborate braided styles we’ve ever laid eyes on. See for yourself. The wrapped braids add interest to this classic up do. We love the flowers pinned into the curlicues. Waterfall braids are a hot trend right now. The soft, undone attitude here is delightful.   This style is combining at least three different braiding techniques—so impressive. French braids, a side bun, and roses. … Read more
